A Career in Voice

When Maestro Álvaro Lozano Gutiérrez conducts, he draws inspiration from his history as a distinguished baritone.

As a baritone, Álvaro performed leading roles in 42 operas over the course of 12 years and is the recipient of two national scholarships and four international awards.

The Conductor's Journey

Later in his career, Álvaro obtained a masters degree in conducting. Since 2015, he has dedicated himself to conducting operas and symphonic orchestras throughout Europe.

Álvaro is currently the Artistic Director and Conductor of the Jóven Orquesta Sinfónica de Salamanca in Spain.

Twice a year, Maestro Lozano travels to Toronto to teach opera as Conductor of the Opera For All Choir.

He was encouraging, kind and lots of fun. Each class was a pleasure to attend. And he taught me so much about music!
